OPM3®: Stewardship
The PMBOK® does a wonderful job of describing the nuts and bolts of running a project. But every Project Manager is aware that projects require much more than schedules and Work Breakdown Structures to be successful. One of the most important project success factors is the quality of Institutional Support (Project Stewardship) that an organization's management team provides to their projects and project teams. Effective Project Stewardship includes active and vocal executive support of projects, involved project Sponsors, effective project governance, provision of project staff training and career paths, good communication channels and the expectation of teamwork and trust among all players. OPM3®, a PMI standard, enables an organization to enhance its Project, Program and Portfolio Management maturity. By doing so, it also serves to enhance those institutional factors that constitute good Project Stewardship, and that are so necessary for effective project support. Dr. Evans will explain how you can use OPM3® to generate a more "Project Friendly" environment in your organization by enhancing the level of Project Stewardship.
Key things that an Attendee will learn from the presentation:
- Human Factors are an important source of project risk
- Critical Project Success Factors counter those risks
- Effective Project Stewardship promotes Project Success Factors
- OPM3® can be used to enhance the level of an organization's Project Stewardship
